Veterinary Feed Directive Changes Take Effect on January 1, 2017

The Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) is the rule that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will implement to promote the judicious use of antimicrobials that are being used in food-producing animals.

It has taken effect since January 1, 2017, and by limiting the use of antimicrobials being added in the feed, or what we could call an antibiotic free production, it could lead to some production related issues in the farms, like increase incidence of diarrhea, lower ADG and high FCR, and an increase in morbidity and even mortality. Algebra Bio is prepared to help you through these new challenges with our natural product solutions, like oregano essential oils, and yeast derivative products.
